Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime Monarch Butterfly Experience. We asked Nantali Tours to design an excursion with the traveler in mind who doesn’t want to cram 9hrs of travel and the butterfly adventure into one day. Instead they are offering an overnight stay in a modest motel, art class, superbly comfortable van, meals and horseback up the mountain. Currently, we are scheduling one trip for 18 guests on February 5th 2025.
When we fill this group, they may offer an additional trip.
ITINERARY February 5-6th
DAY 1
9 AM DEPARTURE from Plaza Luciernaga
1 PM Arrival in Aporo https://aporo.gob.mx Quaint sleepy Mexican town a couple blocks from the motel with tiendas, a bar and historic church. Take a relaxing strole or join our Indigenous weaving class (included) after lunch.
1:30 PM Buffet lunch – Rice, Beans, Salad, beef/pork/chicken stews, salsa with handmade tortillas plus fruited water or soda
3 PM- Check into rooms at No frills but clean Mexican motel, La Posada la Revancha. https://posadalarevancha.com.
3:30 Indigenous weaving workshop (materials/instructor included) and time to explore town 3 blocks away
7:30 PM Taco dinner – local cooks prepare traditional tacos & toppings including non-alcoholic drink BYOB
Evening: Board Games – bring your favorite games
February 6th
DAY 2
8:00 AM Breakfast Chilaquiles, eggs, beans, rice, bread of the village, handmade tortillas, mexican coffee or tea 9:30 AM Saddle up for a guided horseback ride up the to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, El Rosario. Horses will take you up to the first viewing level for the butterflies from there you can see the migratory monarchs or walk up the path to the next level. https://venues.com.mx/venue/
1:30 PM Return from Sanctuary on horseback
2PM RETURN TO SMA – snack pack and drink provided on the van 3:30 stop for lunch at a roadside venue (price not included in package) and stretch legs
7PM ARRIVAL TO SMA
