Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? I have answers. And probably a restaurant recommendation too.
Here are the questions I hear most often. If yours is not on the list, just reach out. I love hearing from the comunidad and I always write back.
ABOUT THE EVENTS
A wonderful mix! I host intimate chef dinners, themed supper experiences, casual brunches, and curated adventures around San Miguel de Allende and the surrounding region. Think butterfly tours, the magical Firefly Sanctuary, glamping under the stars,
spa days, and more. If it is extraordinary and I love it, I share it.
Regularly throughout the year! The best way to never miss one is to join my WhatsApp
group for direct announcements, subscribe to the newsletter, or keep an eye on the Events page here on ExperienceSMA.com.
Events are intentionally kept intimate, typically between 10 and 30 guests. That size is the sweet spot where everyone actually gets to connect and the venue can deliver a truly special experience. No giant crowds, no getting lost in the room.
A beautiful blend. Roughly 60 percent are locals and long-term expats, and 40 percent are visitors to SMA. That mix is part of what makes each gathering so rich. You might end up next to someone who has lived here for 15 years and knows every back street in town, or someone seeing the jardin for the very first time. Both make the conversation
better.
I always note dietary options when I post each event. I follow a plant-based diet myself so I understand how important this is. When you RSVP please mention any dietary needs and I will do my best to make sure you are taken care of.
RSVP AND ATTENDANCE
Yes, and this really matters. Each event has a set number of seats so the venue can
prepare properly and every guest gets the full experience. Please RSVP at
ExperienceSMA.com for every event you plan to attend. A Facebook RSVP
unfortunately does not count since I need your information through the official system.
Absolutely, and I encourage it! Some of my favorite regulars started by walking in alone
and left with dinner plans already made with their new friends. You are never alone at
one of my events. I make sure of it.
Of course! Just make sure they RSVP separately so I have an accurate headcount for
the venue. The more the merrier, as long as there are seats available.
Life happens! Please let me know as soon as possible. This is genuinely important
because our chefs purchase fresh ingredients specifically for each event based on the
number of confirmed guests. A last minute cancellation means food goes to waste and a small business absorbs that cost. A quick message to team@experiencesma.com,
WhatsApp, or Facebook as soon as you know is all it takes and it makes a real
difference to the people preparing your meal.
Yes! If an event is sold out, reach out and I will add you to the waitlist. Spots do open
up, and I always notify the waitlist first when they do.
COST AND PAYMENT
Each event is priced by the venue and all revenue goes directly to them. The cost varies depending on the experience, and pricing is always listed clearly when I post the event.
I do not charge venues or take a cut. My only compensation is getting to eat really well,
which honestly suits me just fine.
Occasionally I pass a small donation basket for local animal rescues and community charities. It is always voluntary and never expected. Every peso goes directly to organizations doing beautiful work here in SMA. Giving feels good, especially over a great meal.

Yes! Join the ExperienceSMA Facebook group where the SMA community comes alive.
Ask questions, share tips, see photos from events, and connect with fellow food lovers and adventure seekers. Pull up a chair, there is always room for one more.
Always. I only recommend places I genuinely love, and I share them regularly on
Facebook and in the newsletter. No sponsored content, no fluff. Just my honest enthusiasm for the best this ciudad has to offer.
UNIVERSITY OF EXPATS
It is my collection of self-paced online courses for people making the move to Mexico. I created it because there is so much confusing and contradictory information out there,
and I wanted to offer something practical, honest, and built from 20 years of real lived experience in SMA.
I currently offer four core courses covering Healthcare in Mexico, International Moving, Visas, and Community Integration. Each one includes 3 modules and 9 lessons and can be taken at your own pace from anywhere in the world. I also offer Street Smart in Mexico: How to Spot Scammers and Protect Yourself as a standalone course, because knowing how to protect yourself is priceless.
Each individual course is $27.99 USD. Bundle all four together for $99.99 USD and receive a free 30-minute one on one consultation with me personally. That is real guidance tailored to your specific situation, and it is my favorite part of the bundle.
Head to UniversityofExpats.com to explore all the courses and enroll. You can also find
the link right here on ExperienceSMA.com.
