Frida Kahlo – dinner party Chef Christy Event

October 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

How Kahlo cooked and entertained is detailed in Frida’s Fiestas: Recipes and Reminiscences of Life.

The cookbook is a fascinating peek into Frida’s life

Frida knew the value of being a good cook. It was as much a part of her Mexican heritage as her Oaxaca style dress. But she really became a good cook because of her love for her husband Diego.

“From her wedding day on, Frida realized that good cooking would be an important part of her life,”  Master Rivera’s bad moods often vanished before the delicious dishes that are normally served in a Mexican home, like saffron rice served with stuffed chilies in broth, and Oaxaca mole.

Join Chef Christy and ExperienceSMA for a menu created from recipes from Frida Kahlo’s cookbook as a tribute to this iconic woman.

For Frida, every occasion was a cause for rejoicing. She met each holiday, birthday or religious observance with enthusiasm.  Frida’s style of cooking and entertaining was as vibrant and colorful as her painting.

We will also have a very special guest too!
